The Disney letter V is our theme this week, and I admit there weren’t a ton of things that jumped into my mind! But here’s what I came up with:
Victory! I completed the Enchanted 10k, my first race longer than 5k:
Vanellope Von Schweetz:
For me personally, one of the most important items to have while running, especially long distances, is some sort of belt or armband to hold my stuff. In my regular, day-to-day life I’m one of those people that likes to be prepared, and have whatever I might need with me. Not surprisingly, the same is true for me when I’m running. I like to have access to a few important essentials, and I’ve been searching for the best way to carry them.
In comes FlipBelt. It’s a belt that you wear around your waist and it has small slits in it so you can hold some tiny things – an ID, ipod, phone, etc. I even managed to fit a small energy bar in there too. At first glance it doesn’t look like it can hold much, but you’ll be surprised.
I’m excited to bring you a review of something for runners – but not necessarily to use while you’re running, something to show off your accomplishments and pride even after the race is over! Etsy seller Sarah Jane Design makes some gorgeous jewelry, including many items with a Run Disney theme!
She was kind enough to send me a piece designed based on the Enchanted 10k that I just completed in Disney in February. There are lots of options when it comes to how you want to piece to look – you can choose what kind of charm you want, what kind of chain, and what color bead. The item in person is even more beautiful than it looks in the pictures. It has lots of detail and really has that Disney magic about it.
For my 26th birthday I decided to throw myself a Frozen themed party. The week before my party I was at work (I work in the children’s department of a library), and I heard a little girl, probably about six years old, talking about how she was going to have a Frozen birthday party. I had to get excited and tell her that I was having a Frozen birthday party too! Still a child a heart 😉
For my party I invited a bunch of friends over to watch the movie, and we had some snacks and drinks. Because people arrived at all different times we actually watched the movie twice – I referred to it as the matinee showing and the evening showing! In between the two showings we got dinner and played Disney Scene It.
Today I am honored to bring you a giveaway from one of the best Disney tutu shops out there: Race Junkie. She has a number of awesome, high quality Disney themed tutus for all different characters. I love her tutus because they are unique and perfect for costumes.
But the best part is, she is generous enough to do a giveaway with us! One of my lucky readers will be able to win a $30 gift card to her Etsy shop for a tutu of their choice. And it gets even better: all you have to do to be entered to win is to comment on this post with your name and the best email address to contact you at if you win. That’s it! No rafflecopter, no facebook likes. Of course, feel free to share on facebook or twitter if you’re so moved to do so, but none of it is required!
This is totally optional, but if you leave a second comment I would love for you to visit her shop and tell me which tutu you’d be interested in buying if you won – and you’ll get a second entry for doing that! I’m curious to know which characters and styles people are most into!
Comment below for your chance to win!
Giveaway will run until April 27th at 11:59pm. Winner will be contacted by email address provided, and announced on the Disney in your Day facebook page.
Today I want to talk about one of my favorite runner’s headbands out there: Bondi Band! It’s a thicker sort of headband that does a great job at keeping both sweat and hair out of your eyes and face. They sent me an item for review and I have to say, I’m thrilled with it.
They have a ton of styles of their website – all different colors, some with sparkles or bling, some with sayings, and some with designs or patterns. Some of the ones that you can find which are Disney related include tiaras, a Cinderella-esque bow (that’s the one that I got), or a rhinestone Mickey Mouse. Plus, if you go to their booth at one of the Run Disney expos, they often have more Disney specific items available there. In terms of the looks of this headband, I think they’re great. It’s a wonderful way to add some fun to a costume or even just a race outfit.
I wore mine to the Hershey 10k that I just ran on Sunday. It’s super comfortable and does a great job at what it’s supposed to do – keeping hair and sweat away. I have really thick hair which can sometimes be a problem, but it didn’t bother me at all during this race. However, one of the things I love about Bondi Band is the fact that it is thicker than many other headbands out there. For me, this is a huge bonus because I can pull it down to cover my ears if it’s cold out. During my race I was shivering before I started and in the beginning cold wind was whipping my ears, which are super sensitive. I was able to pull by Bondi Band down over them. Once the day warmed up and I warmed up, I could push it back a little bit and just use it as a normal headband. Awesome bonus!
On April 13th I found out that I was tagged for a Liebster Award – but what exactly is that, you ask? Good question, because I wasn’t sure either! It’s an award that is given from one blogger to another to recognize them, and it’s to showcase smaller bloggers (those with 500 followers or less). When you’re nominated you answer a series of questions posed by the blogger who nominated you, and then you nominate some blogs that you like as well!
I was tagged by The Animation Commendation!
Here are “the rules”:
1. Thank the blogger who nominated you.
2. Answer the 11 questions that they’ve asked.
3. Nominate 11 other blogs (with less than 500 followers).
4. Post 11 questions for your nominees to answer.
5. Let your nominees know that you’ve chosen them with a comment.
And now it’s time for my answers! Here they are, the answers to the questions that were posed to me by the Animation Commendation:
Today I have another Etsy shop featured that I am very excited to tell you about! We are showcasing Lily Bomb Athletic Wear, and will also be offering an awesome giveaway! Lily Bomb has a number of really cute running skirts, most of which are Disney inspired.
One of the coolest things about this shop is the fact that they have all different types of skirts. There are some Disney themed sparkle skirts, but there’s also metallic style skirts perfect for a super hero costume, or other skirts made with tech fabric, spandex, or other running appropriate materials. I’ve seen lots of sparkle skirts before, which I love, but I think it’s really awesome how this shop customizes them so well to fit the characters. For this review I was sent a Frozen inspired skirt, based on the character of Anna.
I was really blown away by the skirt when I got it in person. It’s really beautiful, and you can tell that a lot of detail and time was put into it. It’s a great replica of Anna’s skirt in the movie, and anyone that’s familiar with Frozen will recognize it immediately. I used the chart on her Etsy site to order my size, and it fit perfectly. Very comfortable!
