As some of you may know from reading my other posts about running, having a way to carry my stuff while I run is super important to me. I want to be comfortable but also have what I need! So I’ve been trying out some different types of belts and whatnot, and today I want to share with you an awesome product called RooSport.
A RooSport is basically a small pouch or pocket that you can attach to your waist and carry small items in. I love the name (obviously from the Kangaroo’s pouch!). It doesn’t have any sort of belt or anything that you have to strap around your waist, though – instead, the pouch itself has small but powerful magnets that you can attach right onto your shorts. It’s small but a good size to hold the essentials you might need while you’re running.
At first I was a little nervous about using the RooSport, because it was so different – I was afraid it would come off! But my fears were for nought, because those magnets are strong and very secure. It hasn’t come off during a run yet, and I’ve never felt like it was slipping or anything at all. I have to say that it is really comfortable. If having a belt or something around your waist bothers you, I think you’ll love a RooSport. Another advantage is that you can put the pocket anywhere you like around your waist. If you want it right in front of you, a little to the right, all the way to the right, to the left – whatever! It stays wherever you put it.
I don’t claim to have been to Disney every month of the year. Though I have been a number of times – in February, March, April, June, July, August, September, October, and December (okay, so almost every month!). And even when a month has been promising in years past doesn’t always mean that it will that year. But I see this question asked a lot, so I figured I’d list some of the pros and cons of visiting each month, based on both research and personal experience. In my opinion, there are three major things to consider when deciding when to visit – crowds, weather, and price. This list is not comprehensive of every single thing, but it’s some good things to consider for people new to visiting Disney.
January – After New Year’s, the parks are very empty. This is a good time to go if you really want to avoid crowds. On the downside, a lot of rides close around this time for refurbishment, so if there’s something you absolutely must ride be aware of this – Splash Mountain is almost always closed in January, for instance. The weather tends to be mild, though it can get a bit cold or hot. The only crowded times to look out for are marathon weekend (usually the resorts are much more crowded than the parks), and MLK weekend. Prices are cheap for January due to the low crowds.
Long sleeves were necessary when we visited in February!
February – Similar to January in many ways, though it gets a little bit busier. One weekend to absolutely avoid is President’s Day weekend. I went last year during that time and it was crazy busy, not to mention that the prices for hotels and buffet meals go up. The rest of February isn’t too bad. The weekend of the Princess Half marathon can get busy as well. Weather wise, February can be all over the place. I’ve been when it’s 40 degrees and when it’s 85!
T-shirts are very important to runners – not just to find good ones to run in, but also to show off your accomplishments! Sure, you can get the free t-shirts they usually give you during a race, but if you really want to wear your pride with style then consider an Etsy shop like Foxy Baby. She has some absolutely gorgeous rhinestone running shirt iron-on transfers.
For this review I received a shirt with two of the transfers (front and back). The iron-on that was on the front of the shirt is really gorgeous. It’s very detailed, with a ton of rhinestones to make it super sparkly 🙂 It has a tiara with 19.3 on it (to represent the Glass Slipper Challenge), and the words “Run like a Princess.” I really like the balance of colors. While most of the iron-on is white (which usually shows up the best for pictures), it also has blue and pink, which really livens it up a bit.
For some of you that are truly crazy Disney fans, you might have the dream to stay at every Disney resort on property. I know it’s definitely on my Disney Bucket list to be able to do that someday. Or even if you won’t be able to stay at all of them, perhaps you’d like to just make the trek to visit every single one at some point on life. Lots of the resorts have plenty to offer, like great restaurants that are worth checking out. It’s also fun just to look around at the amazing décor and theming that Disney does!
If you want to keep track of which resorts you’ve been to/stayed at, I made up this handy checklist. The Disney restaurant checklist was pretty popular so I figured why not keep track of resorts too? One note – I did choose to leave the Swan and Dolphin hotels off of this list. They kind of fall in the gray area of whether they’re a Disney resort or not, but for this I decided not to include them. You can always add it in yourself if you like!
I’ve stayed at 5 of them, and I’ll be able to check off the Grand Floridian in October! I’ve visited 14 of them, so only a few more to go. How about you?
Today I am very excited to bring you another featured Etsy seller from our Runner’s guide: Goldweb Crafts. This shop offers Disney decals – great for your car or anywhere you want to display them! In addition she also offers her decals available on plastic tumblers, which is something unique and different that I really love.
For my review I was sent a tumbler and a car decal. The tumbler is perfect for Disney runners, featuring the logo and words “Keep calm and run Disney.” The decal is extremely well applied and I have no worries about it coming off at all. Even after a couple of vigorous washings it has proven that it will stay put! The cup also comes with cleaning directions so you can take care of it correctly.
Have you signed up for the Marvel Avengers Half Marathon in Disneyland, or do you hope to someday? Lucky Number Tutu has a number of awesome superhero costumes that would be perfect for this race. Or, if you’re doing another Disney race, she has plenty of other Disney inspired costumes. (Please excuse my sweaty, post-run picture):
One of the highlights of her shop that makes it a little different than some of the others is that she doesn’t offer just tutus. A lot of her outfits are tutu/tank top sets, so you’ve got a one stop shop where you can basically get a complete matching outfit for a race. And the tank tops are just as cute as the tutus!
Uh oh. This month’s Kill, Marry, Refurb theme is Disney Princesses – which means I’m killing, marrying, and refurbing (?) actual human beings! The murder didn’t seem so bad when it was just a Disney ride. I know this one will be hard, but also interesting. I love the princesses, many of them. For this I’m going to consider both how the princesses are presented in their respective movies, but also their presence in the parks. I’m also only including the “official” princesses. So that includes Mulan and Pocahontas, but not people like Esmeralda or Megara.
Kill – Aurora
Aurora – another classic Princess found at Akershus and Cindy’s Table.
I’m sorry Aurora! I really, really didn’t want to kill any princesses. And I enjoy Sleeping Beauty. But if I absolutely have to, I guess I would kill Aurora because we just don’t get to know her as well as some of the other princesses. After all, she spends half of her movie sleeping. I can’t think of any unique personality traits that come to mind about her, so I feel like she’s rather undeveloped as a character. I’m sure she would be quite lovely if we got to know her, but if I’m forced to choose one to kill then the princess that does the least to stand out is Aurora.
One of the things that truly makes Disney World so special is their amazing attention to details. There are so many great things in the parks, but today I’m going to share just a few with you:
Splash Mountain is one of my favorite rides in WDW because there are so many little details on it. I think I see something new every time I ride!
If you’ve never gotten the chance to go inside Disney’s Wedding Pavilion, you might appreciate this picture. The stained glass in the windows is just beautiful, and perfect for a fairy tale wedding:
