March 2015 monthly round-up

February was an exciting Disney month for me as I got to spend a week down in the world!  Our trip was packed with races, great food, fun times, and even a trip over to Universal to visit Diagon Alley.  Expect to see lots of blog posts about various things from my trip.  Big Hero 6 also just recently came out on DVD (I still have to pick up my copy!).  And finally, we are gearing up for the Flower and Garden festival, which I will be attending in April!

My Enchanted 10k recap is up on the blog, but there will be lots more to come from my week in Disney, including a recap of the Half Marathon, some dining reviews, how I made my running costumes, and more.  Anything in particular you’d be curious to hear about?  I’m also still blazing my way through that Disney bucket list and will continue to post updates on that!  We are planning to go to Disneyland in September, so I may also be posting some planning stuff.  Finally, I’m still making my way through the Disney movies – just finished Peter Pan so I’ll have my thoughts on that up shortly!

February 2015 monthly round up

Disney in your Day News

Yay, it’s finally February!  That means I’m going back to Disney!  If you’ve been following my blog you probably know that I’m running the Glass Slipper Challenge, so I’m getting excited but also a little nervous about that.   We have so many other fun things planned too – dinner at Yachtsman, FP+ to meet Anna and Elsa, and even a trip over to Universal to check out the Harry Potter stuff!  Plus, I’m now signed up for the Disneyland Half marathon – which means I’ll get my coast to coast medal, and I’ll be going to Disneyland for the first time!

As for the blog, once I return from my trip expect to see lots of park updates.  I’ll also be continuing some of the regular series, such as “thoughts on Disney movies.”  I’m hoping to get some more recipes and crafts up too.  And I may or may not have recently become a little obsessed with tsum tsums, so I have a feeling they will be appearing on the blog as well!

Disney News

  • First the “big news” was that Disney was introducing these cool looking mugs at their Starbucks locations.  However, now the Epcot mug has been pulled because of the monorail having a purple stripe on it (the color of the monorail from the fatal accident in 2009, a color that has since been retired by Disney.  My bet is that they’ll change the color of the stripe and have the mug back on the shelves as soon as possible.
  • Disney is already getting ready to make new Indiana Jones movies… and rumor has it that Chris Pratt will be playing the lead role.
  • People have been clamoring for Disney to introduce a Latina princess, and now she’s here – Elena of Avalor, who will have her own show on Disney Junior.
  • If you’re concerned about the construction at the Magic Kingdom, check out this update to see what exactly is going on now.
  • Peter Pan’s Flight now has a new queue – I’m looking forward to seeing this when I visit!
  • This makes me so happy: it has now been announced that Emma Watson will be playing Belle in a live action Beauty and the Beast film.  I think it’s a great casting choice!
  • Disneyland is going to be celebrating it’s 60th Anniversary this year, which is the diamond celebration.  Disney has announced some of the exciting things that will be happening for that event!

January 2015 Monthly Round Up

Wow, we’ve reached 2015!  I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and a great start to your year.  Christmas is my favorite holiday of all, but I have to say that my second favorite is probably New Year’s.  I love the idea of starting fresh, and looking forward at all that will come in the next year!  For me, 2015 holds two trips to Disney World and my very first trip to Disneyland, as well as two Disney half marathons that should earn me my coast to coast medal.  I’m excited!

The past year has been a good one for Disney in your Day, but I’m excited for all that is to come in the new year.  December included lots of holiday themed posts, as well as my review of Into The Woods.  In the immediate future you can expect more thoughts on Disney movies, as well as the end of the restaurant tournament.  Plus, I want to roll out a new series, “Other theme parks,” featuring other places around the country that might be worth visiting when you can’t get to Disney.  And I’ll continue with my Glass Slipper Challenge training until February, when I actually run the Glass Slipper Challenge!

December 2014 monthly round up

I feel like a lot has been happening lately in the world of Disney!  Some interesting and exciting announcements have come out about both the parks and films.  And as the holidays approach, there are always fun things happening!

resort-restaurants-part-2 round 2

We are right in the middle of another restaurant tournament – this time for signature and character dining!  If you haven’t placed your votes for Round 2 yet, be sure to check that out now.  I’m also in the middle of Glass Slipper Challenge training, and though it’s a little rougher than last time I’m still getting through it.  I have two more running related reviews to put up, both of which I’m super excited about.  And there will certainly be some holiday themed posts coming this month!

November 2014 monthly round up

The past month was super busy here at Disney in your Day!  Thanks to a trip to the World in early October, I had a ton of content to write about for the blog.  Plus, in my personal life I am performing in the musical Sweeney Todd, which just opened in mid-October and runs for four weekends!  So it’s been pretty non-stop for me.

There are lots of exciting things I’ve written about from my past trip, including the Food and Wine Festival, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, and the Tower of Terror 10 miler.  But there’s also more things to come that I experienced: the expo for the race, the Villains Bash, and staying the Villas at the Grand Floridian, just to name a few!

I’ve started race training for the Glass Slipper Challenge, so those updates will be coming.  And a new restaurant tournament will be up shortly!

October 2014 monthly round up

Woohoo, October!  You know what that means?  It means I’m going to Disney World!  When I come back I’ll have tons of stuff to blog about – the Halloween Party, Food and Wine, and Tower of Terror 10 miler.  I’ll also be there for the last day Maelstrom is open.  What are you most interested in hearing about when I get back?

Disney in your Day News

tower of terror 10 miler

Since the Tower of Terror 10 miler is this weekend, my countdown and training is done!   But I’ll only have a week or two before I start training for the Glass Slipper Challenge, which I’m a bit nervous about – first of all for running in the winter and second of all because it’s a 10k on Saturday and a half marathon (my first) on Sunday.  We’ll see how it goes!  I also took part in a Tower of Terror 10 miler Virtual Blog Hop, so if you’re looking for info on the race there are lots of great blog posts there!

As I mentioned above, I’ll be coming back with plenty to write about from my travels.  Plus I’m hoping to get out some fall/Halloween posts in October.   If you have ideas or want to contribute, please email me at disneyinyourday@gmail.com!

August 2014 monthly round up

It’s August, which means we’re about halfway through the summer!  Where does the time go?  Disney is keeping busy, certainly – there have been lots of interesting articles and news happening recently!

Disney in your Day news

We’ve finished up the resort restaurant tournament (for non signature resort restaurants), and the winner was Sanaa!  Be on the lookout for the signature competition to come in the fall.  Speaking of things that are ending, the Runner’s Guide reviews and giveaways are also wrapping up.  I have three more for you, and I’ll be on the lookout for any other great Disney running products in the future too!

But even though some things are ending, new ones are just beginning.  My Tower of Terror 10 miler training continues, and as I plan for my upcoming trip in October I’m getting more and more excited!  Something else new I’ve been thinking about: I want to go back and re-watch all the animated Disney movies, and I was thinking about chronicling that.  And finally, I’m also looking to feature any Disney weddings if anyone had a wedding there and would like a blog post – please contact me!

If you have ideas or want to contribute, please email me at disneyinyourday@gmail.com!

July 2014 Monthly Round Up

Wow, I can’t believe it’s July already!  Though the weather definitely has me believing it – 93 degrees today in Pennsylvania!  I can’t even imagine what it must be like in Disney now.  This month is going to be busy for me, with the show I’m currently in (Footloose) performing the last two weekends in July, and rehearsals already beginning for my next show!  I like to stay busy!

Disney in your Day news

resort-restaurants-part-1 round 2

Speaking of busy, there’s been a lot going on with the blog recently!  We are still finishing up some of the reviews and giveaways for the Disney Running Gear Guide – I have about five or six left, though I’m open to more if anyone has something they’d like reviewed.  I’ve also started a new weekly series to keep track of my training for the Tower of Terror 10 miler.

And then the Disney restaurant tournament is back!  We’re doing the first part of the resort restaurants (non signature/character dining resort restaurants).  We’re up to round 2, so make sure you cast your vote for that!

Disney News

into the woods

  • We’ve had lots of classic Disney movies turned into live action films, and the most recent one announced is Beauty and the Beast.  No details yet like a release date or casting, though rumors are flying!
  • Did you know that there are PhotoPass Photo Booths in Disney World now?  Capturing Magic featured them in a recent blog post!
  • Another Disney movie coming up is based on my all time favorite musical, Into the Woods.  The composer, Sondheim, recently shared some of the changes they’ll be making for the film.  I have to say I’m definitely disappointed.
  • A new show about conservation is coming to the Animal Kingdom!  It will be called “It All Started With a Mouse” and will take place at Rafiki’s Planet Watch.
