Bulu box is another subscription box that I’ve started getting. It is a box that will deliver samples of health, nutrition, and weight loss products. I love the fact that they make it very clear that they are providing samples, so you don’t expect full size products from them. Other boxes, I’ve found, have been a bit ambiguous when it comes to that. When you sign up you can choose from either a general health box or a weight loss box. I’m getting the weight loss box.
I will admit that this isn’t normally the type of thing I would try. I’m not hugely into miracle weight loss pills and that sort of thing – I’m much more an advocate of healthy eating and exercise. But I got a groupon deal where a 3 month subscription to Bulu Box and a year long subscription to Women’s Health magazine was only $15 – so I figured I’d give it a try!
I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised by what I received the first month. Only one item seemed less than legitimate.
Rutaesomn Sleep Aid
So I’m one of those people that often lacks energy throughout the day, and all I can think about is taking a nap or going to bed… but then when it’s actually time to sleep I’m wide awake. I take melatonin every night, which helps a lot. This sleep aid claims to not only help you sleep, but to negate the effects of caffeine. I tried it one evening in place of my melatonin. I had caffeinated soda around 9pm, took this pill at 11, and was asleep by midnight. Since it’s a sample I only got to try it once, but it seems to have worked!
Coming at you today with another non-Disney related, subscription box review. This time the box is Bestowed, which I went with after being offered a discount of 3 months worth of boxes for $36. It sounded interesting so I decided to give it a go! The idea behind Bestowed is that they offer you healthy products, mostly snacks, and they are recommended by Heather Bauer.
Maybe August was not the best time to sign up, but I was rather disappointed with my first box, the September box. It was billed as a “back to school” box, and a lot of the items seemed geared toward kids, of which I have none. Nothing is full size either, but rather sampler sized or a one-serving packet. Compared to NatureBox I’m much happier with that one and feel like I get more for my money! Some of the stuff was good though. Here’s a look at what was inside my box:
Funley’s Cheddar Super Crackers
This is a one serving, 100 calorie pack. They tasted pretty much exactly like Cheeze-its, which is good since I love Cheeze-Its! They are however made with all natural ingredients. Like regular Cheeze-its they were a tasty snack but not a super filling one, which is something I’ve been seeking out more with my snacks. Still, if you are craving a cheddar cracker but want something natural this is a good choice. Although I will admit I was a little freaked out by the old people faces printed on the crackers! A bit weird.
A box of 6 100 calorie packs costs $4.75, so this one pack was worth $0.79. There was also a coupon for $1.00 off a Funley purchase but I don’t plan to use it as these aren’t easily accessible at my supermarket and I didn’t like them enough to go seek them out elsewhere.
I know this isn’t really Disney related, but a lot of people have been asking me what I think about my new Nature Box subscription so I wanted to share. If you’re not familiar with it, Nature Box is a monthly subscription service that sends you a box of healthy snacks. You can choose what they send or you can let them surprise you. 5 snacks are included per month with multiple servings per bag. One month is $20, though if you sign up for multiple months at a time the price goes down.
For my first box I picked out three of my snacks and let them send me 2 surprises. Well, they not only did that, but they sent a bonus 6th surprise snack as well!
My first choice was the bruschetta pretzel pops. I love bruschetta and it sounded intriguing. I know a lot of people were concerned with portion sizes. This picture shows what they consider one “serving”, with 110 calories. It doesn’t look like much but they’re pretty filling and held me over for about an hour and a half til my next little afternoon snack! They are made with tomato and rosemary, and the overwhelming flavor is definitely the rosemary. Personally, I love rosemary, so I loved these! They were great and somewhat addicting, so I’m glad I counted out the serving size ahead of time because I’m sure I would’ve overindulged otherwise. I’ll definitely get these again.
