There are tons of fun things to do in Disney World that everyone knows about – however, one of the great things about the theme parks is that there are so many hidden treasures that not everyone knows about! If you’re visiting Disney World but you want to check out what else there is to do aside from the headliner rides and restaurants, here are some suggestions – hopefully you can discover something new on your next trip!
Make a wish at Cinderella’s wishing well – it only takes a moment, but it’s like a private little magical moment. Find Cinderella’s wishing well, pull out a penny, and make a wish! This is something fun to do with kids, but it’s also sweet with couples or even just by yourself. After all, it’s Disney World – if you wish hard enough, it’s sure to come true!
Ride those rides you absolutely never go on – everyone has them. Maybe you’ve never done some attractions, or maybe it’s just been awhile since you went on them. Instead of heading straight to Space Mountain or Toy Story Mania, take a moment to enjoy Astro Orbiter or Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream.
After a brief hiatus last month, I’m excited to jump back into Kill, Refurb, Marry with this month’s topic: souvenir shops! I love a good souvenir, so it definitely took some thinking for me to decide which ones I would kill, refurb, and marry. It was really tough! There’s tons of souvenir shops in Disney, many of which I love, and many of which I think they could do more with. I’m sure I might end up changing my mind, but for now, here are my choices:
Kill – Marketplace Fun Finds
This place in Downtown Disney in basically the “bargain bin.” Normally I love places like this, because I love a good deal. However, this just feels a little depressing and not at all a good value. They stuff some of the typical stuff in here that just happens to be $20 or less. It would be a lot better if they used it to sell clearance or discontinued items are lower prices, not the same overpriced souvenirs that are all over the place.
Happy September! It’s one of my favorite months of the year. To start things off it’s my anniversary (we will be celebrating 3 years on the 3rd!), and it’s also one of my favorite times of year to visit Disney World. We went for our honeymoon and it was so empty we hardly had to wait for anything.
Disney in your Day news
I just recently started re-watching all of the Disney animated features, in order. I’ll be posting some thoughts on each one (Snow White is already up!). So look for one of those to come every 1-2 weeks. The Tower of Terror 10 miler looms ever closer, as does my trip to Disney. It will be a trip of many firsts – first 10 mile race, first time at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, and first time at Food and Wine! I can’t wait! Finally, I would love to finish our restaurant bracket with the signature resort restaurants. I think this will be a toughie because there are so many fantastic ones out there. I’ll be interested to see the results!
