Enchanted 10k 2015 recap

enchanted 10k

February 21st the second Enchanted 10k, and also my second time running it!  We were up bright and early, and I got into my Snow White running costume that because of the cold temperatures now had leggings and running sleeves to it.

We got on the bus around 3:30, so that we could stand around in the cold for two hours.  It was only in the low forties that morning!  I had brought a throwaway sweatshirt but I was still freezing the entire time until I started running.  There were 5 corrals, A-E, and I was in C.  Last year the corrals started about 10 minutes apart, but this time it seemed to be even longer, about 12 minutes.  I started at 5:55 am.  I planned to take it easy since I was running the half marathon the next day.

Kill, Refurb, Marry – Disney Sidekicks

Every month my friends over at Mouse on the Mind host a blog hop of “Kill, Refurb, Marry” – and this month’s topic is Disney Sidekicks!  Here are my choices – what would you choose?

Kill – Cheshire Cat

DisneyCheshireCat

To be fair, he is a cool character – I want to kill him more in the sense of, “gahh I hate you!” rather than “I wish you weren’t in this film.”  He’s not necessarily a villain, but he’s a troublemaker, and he doesn’t seem to feel bad at all for Alice, even when she’s at her wit’s end and crying about home.  He’ll always point her in the wrong direction.  And I’m a cat lover, so he gives my cuddly creatures a bad name!

Kill, Refurb, Marry: Disney Villains

Ooh, this sounds like it will be a fun one!  Disney villains are fascinating characters, though I will admit the thought of having to marry one of them might not be the most appealing thing in the world.  And then there was this question: is “kill” the villain I like the least and “marry” the one I enjoy the most?  Or the one that I would literally want to kill the most or marry the most.  I went with the more literal translation, so the villains in contention for kill are great characters – just they’re such great villains I want to kill them!  There were definitely some difficult choices this week, but here’s what I came up with for this month’s edition of Kill, Refurb, Marry.

Kill – Frollo

frollo

This was a tough choice.  Which Disney villain makes your skin really crawl the most?  And makes you want to punch them in the face?  There are certainly a number of contenders here, but I went with Frollo.  Talk about evil personified.  He is a cruel, heartless man, treating people terribly because they are different from him.  Even though characters like Maleficent and the Evil Queen do terrible things and are certainly evil, Frollo seems to hit home a bit more because he’s more human.  There’s no magic or evil spells that are causing him to do what he does, it’s just a malicious human nature.  Maleficent couldn’t exist in real life, but Frollo could.  And that is terrifying.

Who should I dress as for the Disneyland Half Marathon?

I know my costumes for my upcoming Disney races during Princess weekend: I’ll be doing Snow White for the 10k and Anna for the Half.  However, I’m also planning to sign up for the Disneyland half marathon in September!  And honestly, one of my favorite parts of planning for a race is deciding on a costume.

I plan to run the Princess races as often as I can, and I like dressing as a princess for those – so for Disneyland I’m thinking I would like to do a non-princess.  Here are some ideas I’ve come up with so far.  Which one do you like the best?  Any other suggestions?

Vanellope Von Schweetz

I would really love to do this costume, but I’m wondering if it might be better to save it for when I someday do the Wine and Dine half – because it’s sort of food related and all, with the candy and whatnot.

Signature Restaurants Resorts Tournament – Round 3

It’s down to only 4 restaurants left – and they’re all pretty outstanding in my opinion!  Hard to choose a favorite, but that’s what this is all about.  So tell me, out of these match-ups, which are your favorites?  Jiko or California Grill?  Ohana or Victoria and Alberts? (Two totally different places, for sure!)

Let me know your votes by either commenting here on the blog or posting on our facebook page!

Tower of Terror 10 miler after party: Villains Bash!

villains bash

Before I ran the Tower of Terror 10 miler, I was really curious what the after party, the Villains Bash, would be like.  What rides would be open?  What character would be out?  Was there anything else to do?  I had a lot of trouble finding any information on it at all!  Disney didn’t officially give much, and I only found a handful of blogs with recaps.  So I knew after I attended I would have to write my own blog post to get a little more information out there!

After I finished the race I got my medal and my food packet and started the long walk to actually get into the park.  We came in right around where the Theater of the Stars is, and I immediately found a bench near the food area to sit down, rest a bit, eat my food, and call my husband to tell him I was done!  He wasn’t on this trip with me or else he would’ve been cheering me on, but we still celebrated over the phone.

My friends were still going to be awhile til they finished, so I kind of went to explore the Bash on my own.  If you weren’t running the race you could buy a ticket to get into the party, and apparently they had maps for the event around but I didn’t see any – I wish they had been giving them out to the runners!  I didn’t know where anything would be happening, but I wandered toward the hat and saw a line for Cruella de Vil, so I decided to meet her.  She was hilarious!

Signature Resort Restaurants Tournament – Round 1

It’s finally time for another restaurant tournament!  This time it’s the signature restaurants at the resorts.  I have a feeling this one is going to be really tough, because there are just so many good ones!  This tournament will actually include both signature and character dining at the resorts.  We’ve taken care of most of the other restaurants at Disney in various tournaments: We’ve already done Epcot (Le Cellier won), the three other parks (Be Our Guest was victorious), Downtown Disney (Raglan Road), and non-signature resort restaurants (Sanaa).

All you have to do to cast your vote is to comment on this blog post, or comment on the facebook page.  Please try to place a vote for each match up, even if you haven’t eaten there – it’s just for fun, so take a guess at which one you would like more, or choose which one sounds more appealing to you!  For this first round, you should have  7 restaurants listed (Victoria and Albert’s gets a free pass into the second round).

I look forward to hearing your thoughts and any comments you might have on the restaurants!
