Disney Etsy Holiday Gift Guide

etsy holiday gift guide

It’s that time of year when it’s time to start thinking about Christmas presents!  Buying presents for a Disney lover can be difficult, especially Disney adults.  Many of the items available are too childlike, or else Disney fans already own a lot of what is out there.  Then I discovered Etsy.  There are so many amazing crafters on there that create unique and original pieces that would be perfect for a Disney lover!  Whether you’re buying for someone else, want to get something special for yourself, or you’re trying to put together a list of items you might want for the holidays, odds are very good that there will be something you like.

There is a complete listing of the items in our gift guide up on the bar at the top of the page, under “Disney Etsy Holiday Gift Guide.”  There are 4 categories – accessories, clothing, for kids, and miscellaneous.  In addition, throughout the next few months I will be sharing spotlights on certain Etsy shops with an up-close look at their products.  Finally, we’ll have a few giveaways thrown in too – because what’s a holiday season without a little giving?

Check out the full Disney Etsy Gift Guide here.

What’s your favorite item on the list?  What would you like to see more of?

MK, HS, and AK Restaurant Bracket – Round 2

The first round of our “other parks” restaurant bracket is over!  Now we need your votes on the restaurants that made the cut.  In this case Yak and Yeti is getting a free pass to the third round, just to even things out.  You can cast your votes on these new match ups by commenting here on the blog, or on our facebook page!  Are you surprised by any of the restaurants that made it to round 2 (or the ones that didn’t?)

Animal Butts

It’s probably happened to all of us.  You’re in Animal Kingdom, on the safari, and you spot a giraffe or an elephant close ahead.  You get ready to capture the perfect picture…. and the animal turns around and shows you its butt.  These used to be photos that I would immediately delete off my camera.  However, it started happening so often that I thought they were funny, and figured, why not save them?  At this point I had so many I could create my own photo gallery and call it “Animal Butts.”  I have some great pictures of the animals (check out my post on the Wild Africa Trek), but this is more of my “blooper reel,” if you will.

And just for fun, I thought I’d share them all with you!  😉  Do you think you have an animal butt photo to rival mine?  I’d love to see them!

Bucket List: Meet all of the Disney Princes

bucket list - princes

One of the other items on my bucket list was to meet all of the Disney Princesses.  The Princes, however, are a lot harder to find.  Some of them pop up frequently enough to check off the list, and others are almost impossible.

Flynn Rider:

Though Flynn has technically become a prince since marrying Rapunzel, you won’t find him in Princely outfits!  A few years ago he was out doing meet and greets with Rapunzel, but ever since Merida took over that area you find Rapunzel on her own.  Rumor has it though that Flynn can still be found in Disneyland and Tokyo Disney, as well as on special occasions (like True Love week this past February).

Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom Restaurant Bracket

Some of you that have been following along with the blog may remember the Epcot restaurant tournament we hosted two months ago!  The favorite from Epcot turned out to be Le Cellier.  This time around, I thought it would be fun to do a match-up of the “other parks” – Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios.  I hope to eventually do a resorts tournament and a Downtown Disney tournament, and then stack all of the winners against each other!

All you have to do to cast your vote is to comment on this blog post, or comment on the facebook page.  Please try to place a vote for each match up, even if you haven’t eaten there – it’s just for fun, so take a guess at which one you would like more, or choose which one sounds more appealing to you!  For this first round, you should have 7 restaurants listed.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts and any comments you might have on the restaurants!

Wild Africa Trek

On my most recent trip to Disney, I had the opportunity to do something I have wanted to do for a long time – the Wild Africa Trek.  I love Animal Kingdom and photographing the animals is one of my favorite things, so I was super excited about having the chance to get up close and personal with them!

We checked in about 15 minutes before the Trek was supposed to start.  We were weighed to make sure we were under the 300 pound weight limit, and then we were hooked up with supplies and stuff.  We got a vest, a harness, a water bottle (that we could keep after the Trek!), and an audio guide so we could hear our guides talking.  If you had sunglasses they gave you a string to put around them so they wouldn’t fall off, and if you wanted to bring your camera they gave you a clip and a cord so you could attach it to your vest.  Anything else you had was stored in a locker.

Dapper Photo Backdrops

Have you heard of Dapper Day?  If not, check out this website.  It’s basically a day where you can get all dressed up and go to Disney like they used to do when the parks first opened.  Our friends over at Mouse on the Mind and This Happy Place blog have started a countdown for this year’s Dapper Day, and in celebration they are sharing some dapper related posts.  I was lucky enough to contribute this week!

I’ve never been able to attend an official Dapper Day, but I would love to some day (in fact, it’s one of the items on my Disney Bucket List!). So when Melissa Sue asked me to write a “dapper” blog post I was definitely in. However, once I started thinking about what to write, I was a little stumped. What exactly does it mean to be dapper? I had to turn to my friend, the trusty dictionary.

Merriam-Webster defines dapper as: “neat and trim in appearance” and “very spruce and stylish.” This fits in very well with the idea of Dapper Day and getting dressed up in your stylish clothes. So then I thought, “if you’re all dressed up for Dapper Day, you’re going to want to take lots of photos to commemorate the occasion! Where would be the best place to take some dapper photos?” And then I came up with this list!

Hollywood Studios
This one’s kind of a given, since the Dapper Day events start off at Hollywood Studios. With a retro Hollywood vibe to the park, it’s the perfect place to take some photos to show off your fancy duds.
