Making a Mickey gingerbread house

IMG_20141211_174352001_HDR

Last year my mom found this adorable Mickey gingerbread house at Cracker Barrel, which of course she bought for me.  We finally got around to putting it together this year, and I’m so pleased with how it came out!  It’s like your typical gingerbread house, but it has some cute little Disney touches included, such as Mickey shaped candies to decorate the house and little cardboard windows with Mickey and Minnie in them.

It’s a fun and easy little Christmas project that brings Mickey into your home too!  They also have a gingerbread version of Cinderella’s castle that we have – I’ll be making that one next year!

Disney Christmas Ornaments

img_1035

One of my favorite items at Disney around the holidays is Christmas ornaments!  They are a fun way to add Disney into your holidays, and they also make great souvenirs from the parks.  Whether you get them from Hallmark, Disney World, or the Disney Store, there are so many wonderful ones to choose from I wanted to share my favorites!

One that we purchased on our honeymoon. I especially loved it because my bouquet was blue roses just like Minnie’s!

I got this for my husband last year, as he's a big Toy Story fan.

Bucket List: Attend Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party

photo29

This year was exciting because it was my very first time attending Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party!  If you haven’t been, there are a number of things to look forward to!

Costumes

For me, one of the most exciting things about attending the Halloween Party is being able to wear a costume into Magic Kingdom park!  While kids can always dress up like princesses or pirates or whatever they like, adults are not normally allowed to wear costumes.  For this party though, that’s all different.  I got to dress up like a princess (Belle) and prance around Magic Kingdom.  It doesn’t get much better than that!

Spotlight on Disney Couples

Okay, so it might be the day after Valentine’s Day, but it’s still Valentine’s Day weekend!  Love is in the air, and I wanted to do a spotlight on some Disney couples.  They’re not exactly the “top three” or anything, but just some fun ones I wanted to feature!

The Beast and Belle

This is one of my personal favorite couples.  I know some people claim “Stockholm Syndrome,” but personally I think it goes beyond that.  Their relationship is beautiful because it’s about more than just appearances.  And not only does it go above appearances, but Belle is willing to get to know the Beast despite the fact that his attitude is pretty poor in the beginning too.  They were persistent in getting their relationship to work, and unlike a lot of other Disney couples, it wasn’t “love at first sight” for them and getting married after they barely knew each other.  Given what they’ve been through, you know there’s no problems they can’t handle as a couple.

Etsy Spotlight: DoodleBug Bows

Up next on our featured Etsy Spotlights is a store called DoodleBug Bowtique.  They make a variety of embroidered t-shirts and other items that can be personalized.  They have a ton of interesting designs and their shirts would be great for many occasions, including a family trip to Disney World!  It would be the perfect way to have matching shirts that are still personalized.

I was sent one of their t-shirts for review.  The one pictured above is what I received.  One of the things that I really like about this design is the fact that it’s a more subtle design, perfect for adults that may not want to be over the top with their Disney t-shirts.  With a simple Minnie Mouse head in the pocket area, it’s a nice way to represent your love for Disney, and is a shirt that you could feel comfortable wearing not just in the parks, but on a daily basis.

Etsy Spotlight: Roaring Kids

Today I’m happy to bring you a review of another one of the Etsy shops featured in our Holiday gift guide.  The shop we’re featuring today is Roaring Kids, which makes American Girl doll clothes.  She has a variety of cute skirts, pants, and t-shirts, but the thing that really stands out for us Disney lovers in her Minnie Mouse outfit!  This would be perfect for the young Disney fan who owns an American Girl doll, or those of us who still have our American Girl dolls 😉

After receiving the the outfit, I had to decide which of my five American Girl dolls would get to wear it.  Yes, I own five of them from my childhood – Kirsten, Felicity, Molly, Josefina, and Kit.  Obviously Kit was the winner!  I thought her short hair would look cute with the Minnie ears.  And I think I was right!  Kit is absolutely adorable in this Minnie costume.  Now that I’ve got her all dressed up, she is sitting on the shelf in my Disney themed guest room.  A perfect touch!

Bucket List: Attend a Disney Wedding

attend a disney wedding

The Disney wedding community is one that I am particularly close to, even though I didn’t actually have a wedding at Disney.  However, when I was planning my fairy tale themed wedding I stumbled across the DIS boards while searching for inspiration.  There I found an amazing group of women (and a few men!) who were planning incredible weddings and offered a great support system.  Even though my wedding was now two years ago, I stay actively involved in this DisBrides community.  I have made close friends, people that I would now consider to be some of my closest friends, and I was lucky enough to be invited to attend not just one, but two Disney weddings: of my friends Megan and Chris, and Danielle and Bart.
