100th post! And an exciting announcement

Today marks a milestone for the Disney in your Day blog – this is the 100th post!  It’s pretty exciting, and the blog has come a long way in less than a year.  I’m always looking for ways to make it better and very open to suggestions, so if there’s anything you want to see please let me know!

In honor of 100 posts, I wanted to do something exciting for my readers.  So I figured it was the perfect time to announce the new project I’ve been working on!  During October and November the Disney Etsy Holiday gift guide was a big hit.  And now, I have another guide I’ve been working on:

The Disney Running Gear Guide.

disney running gear guide

This guide will feature tons of stuff for Run Disney fans: running skirts, tutus, shirts, jewelry, medal holders, and lots more!  There will be plenty of reviews, but I know the exciting part for you all is that we will be featuring a number of giveaways too!  Even if you’re not a runner there may still be things you’re interested in.  Or perhaps the chance to win some of these amazing items will be the encouragement you need to start running – Disney in the place to do it!  We currently have over 10 giveaways in the works!

I’m hoping to get the guide up by mid-April, and then I will be featuring reviews and giveaways throughout April, May, and June.  I’m so excited for this and I hope you are too!

Etsy Spotlight: Groovy Baby Action Gear

belle running sleevesI have to admit that with the awful weather we’ve had lately, I haven’t been running nearly as much as I should – especially with the Enchanted 10k creeping up on me in February!  But if there’s anything to get me motivated, it’s thinking about my costume that I’m going to wear!  I’m going as my favorite princess, Belle, from Beauty and the Beast.  And one of the components of my running outfit is some arm sleeves from Etsy shop Groovy Baby Action Gear.

Contest! Win a Disney rhinestone transfer from Enchanted Bridal

disney4

I am so excited to bring you our first ever contest! Etsy shop Enchanted Bridal is hosting a contest with us. She makes incredible rhinestone transfer designs that I’m completely in love with – there are a lot of wedding related ones, but also holidays and more. She’s looking for some new ideas of designs she can make, and we thought Disney in your Day readers would be the perfect people to ask!

The design I picked out from her shop – I’m excited to wear it for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party next week!

So here’s how you enter the contest:

Think of a design that you would like to see made into rhinestones for a transfer. Describe either in words or through a picture what it would look like. Post your idea here in the comments or on our facebook page. That’s it!

Crafter Spotlight: Magical Ribbons

The seller I’m featuring today has a special spot on our list because she isn’t technically an Etsy seller.  She makes all her own items but sells them through her own website, Magical Ribbons.  I am very lucky that another Etsy seller told me about her shop, so that I was able to find her!

There are lots of Disney inspired hair ribbons on Etsy.  Some are a lot nicer than others.  But Magical Ribbons has some gorgeous, high quality stuff – and there are tons of different options for almost any movie or character you could imagine.  Even the lesser known movies, like the Black Cauldron, are represented. I spent more time than I’d care to admit browsing all of the pretty bows, and imagining which ones I’d get if I had unlimited money!

Etsy Spotlight: Amanda Jane Designs

P1080366There’s a lot of Disney jewelry available, but a lot of the official stuff is a little bit too over the top and cheap looking… or the stuff that is classy is really expensive.  However, Etsy is a great way to find amazing Disney jewelry!  My favorite seller that I came across was Amanda Jane Designs.  Her work is subtle but full of Disney magic.  It combines charms and a phrase relating to the Disney movie it references.

November Monthly Round Up

Personally, October was a crazy month for me!  I started a new job and the theater production that I’m in opened in mid-October.  Lots of positive things have been happening, and I think November will continue the busy yet good pattern.  I’m looking forward to Thanksgiving – a time to spend with family and to appreciate all that I have in life.  Plus, after Thanksgiving is the start of the Christmas holidays for me!  Though of course, Disney’s Christmas celebrations will start even sooner this month.  It just gets me even more excited for my trip down there in December!

We are going to continue to feature Etsy shops from our Disney Holiday Gift Guide.  There are still lots of great items to check out, so stay tuned for that!  We’ll also have a few related giveaways coming up so I know you’ll want to participate in those two!  Our two October giveaways, for a Rock City Skirt and some Disney art from Kathleen McCready, were big successes.  And we now have over 500 facebook fans, which is incredibly exciting!  Our restaurant tournament of the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios restaurants was completed, with Be Our Guest as the victor.

Kathleen McCready Art: Giveaway and Review!

art giveaway

I’m so excited to bring you another great giveaway and review from one of our fabulous Etsy sellers in the holiday gift guide!  Today we’ll be featuring Kathleen McCready Art.

P1080377

Kathleen does incredible artwork with letters and words.  She creates personalized name paintings with the letters made out of Disney inspired characters.  There are princesses, princes, pirates, and fairies available.  A popular choice is to have a name created out of these letters, but you can also choose to go with a word, like Believe (the one I got) or Smile (the one that we’re giving away!)

Etsy Spotlight: Queen of Cases

I have searched far and wide for a case for my phone that I liked.  Every time I went to Disney World I searched the racks of phone cases hopelessly, praying that there would be a cover for my Motorola Razr.  But alas, it was never to be.  Almost every case is for the iPhone, with a few for the next Samsung Galaxy.   So as much as I admired those Disney designs, i seemed I would never have a Disney case for my phone.

And then I discovered the Queen of Cases on Etsy.  Not only did she have neat Disney designs, but she could make them for my phone!!  I was in heaven.  There are so many great things I could tell you about this Etsy shop, but let me start with just a few.
